Mokhiber</name></author><published>2008-06-23T20:16:06Z</published><updated>2008-06-23T20:16:06Z</updated><content type="html" xml:lang="en-US"><![CDATA[<p><font face="Georgia" size="2">Raymond M. &quot;Ray&quot; Anthony, of Niagara Falls, NY passed away on Thursday, June 19, 2008 at Schoellkopf Health Center, Niagara Falls, NY.<br /><br />He was born in Bay City, MI on February 3, 1921, the son of Ferris and Agnes [Ferris} Anthony. Mr. Anthony served with the US ARMY during World War II, in the Pacific and Asiatic Theaters. He was awarded the Purple Heart, four bronzes and a distinguished Unit Badge.<br /><br />Mr. Anthony moved to Niagara Falls in 1946. He was a plumber for over 60 years with the Plumbers and Steamfitters Local #129 until retiring in 1982. He was a member of Sacred Heart Church, past president of the Cedars Club of Niagara Falls, the American Legion John J. Welch Post 381 and the Local 129/22 retirees Club.<br /><br />Mr. Anthony enjoyed spending time with his family and dancing. He was an avid sports fan, pitched in the Allied Trades Softball League and also bowled in several leagues over the years.<br /><br />Mr. Anthony was the husband of the late Ethel [Shaheen] Anthony, who died in October of last year, they were married on February 2, 1946.<br /><br />He is survived by his three children Jacquelyn-Rae (Frank) Granto of Lewiston, Paul (Sandra) Anthony and James (Susan) Anthony both of Niagara Falls, ten grandchildren Nicolas (Amy), Joseph and Vincent Granto, Julie (Craig) Gonzales, Susan (Jared) Seiwell, Patricia, Paul, Kristen, Thomas and April Anthony, three great grandchildren Craig, Jr., Isabella and Sophia Gonzales, one brother George (Frances) Anthony of Bay City, MI, two sisters Sr. Margaret Marie Anthony of Cincinnati, OH and Virginia (William) King of Bay City, MI, also survived by many nieces and nephews. Mr. Anthony was predeceased by 17 brothers and sisters.<br /><br />The family will be present at the RHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 1124 Ontario Avenue, NIAGARA FALLS, from 6-9 PM Saturday and 2-4 &amp; 7-9 PM Sunday, where funeral services will be held Monday at 9:15 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at St. Mary of the Cataract Church, 259 Fourth Street, Niagara Falls, NY, with the Rev. James J. Kasinski officiating. Memorials may be made in his name to St. Jude's Hospital or to the American Lung Association.
